Plant Arrival Tips

Your plants have landed 🌿 After delivery, it's normal for plants to look a little tired or droopy. Most of the time they bounce back quickly with warmth, good light, and a bit of patience.

Here's a simple arrival checklist to help everything settle in smoothly.

1) Unbox as soon as possible

  • Bring the parcel inside promptly, especially on very hot or cold days.
  • Remove all outer packaging and wrapping.
  • Gently remove any tape + paper towel we've added around the pot to keep the mix in place.
  • Give the plant some fresh air and normal indoor light.

2) Do a quick check

Have a look over the plant and pot.

  • Minor cosmetic marks are normal during delivery (small tears, light bruising, a bent stem).
  • Some drooping straight after delivery is common.

If anything looks genuinely not right (mushy stems, major breakage, or the plant arriving crushed), please reach out within 24–48 hours with:

  • one photo of the whole plant
  • a close-up of the issue
  • (optional) a photo of the pot and potting mix

3) Where to place your plant (first few days)

  • Warm spot (avoid cold draughts).
  • Bright, indirect light (near a window is great — avoid harsh direct sun for the first few days).
  • Away from heaters and air-conditioning airflow.
  • If you have other plants, keep newcomers slightly separate for the first week.

4) Watering after delivery

Most plants arrive with slightly moist mix, so they often don't need water on day one. Before watering, do a quick finger test:

  • If the potting mix feels dry a few centimetres down, water lightly until excess drains, then empty any saucer.
  • If it still feels damp, leave it for now.

Tip: Overwatering straight after delivery is one of the most common issues — stable conditions are usually best at first.

5) Allow time to acclimatise

Your plant has just had a little road trip and may need a "recovery week" to adjust to your home's light, temperature, and humidity.

If you can, wait at least 7 days before:

  • repotting
  • fertilising
  • major pruning
  • moving it between very different light conditions

6) What can be normal after delivery

You may notice:

  • slight drooping or softer leaves for 24–72 hours
  • one older leaf yellowing as the plant recovers
  • minor cosmetic marks on leaves
  • some soil movement in the pot

If the plant feels firm and any new growth looks healthy, it's usually settling in normally.

7) Helpful first-week basics

  • Keep it in bright, indirect light.
  • Maintain a stable, warm spot away from draughts, heaters, and air-con.
  • Hold off on fertiliser for a couple of weeks.
  • Remove damaged leaves only if necessary (use clean, sharp scissors) — otherwise let the plant recover first.
