Bright, bold, and a little bit cheeky — Calathea ‘Yellow Fusion’ turns heads with neon-lime leaves splashed with deeper green brushstrokes and a surprise wash of mauve underneath. It’s one of those plants that looks like it’s been hand-painted, with every leaf doing its own thing while still looking perfectly put together.
Now, full disclosure: this one is a total diva (in the most loveable way). It knows it’s gorgeous and it will let you know when something’s not quite right — a little sulk here, a crispy edge there. But if you keep it comfy with steady warmth, gentle light, and consistent moisture, it’ll reward you with seriously show-stopping foliage that makes your collection look instantly elevated.
| Position | Bright, indirect light. Too much sun can scorch the leaves; low light may reduce colour. |
| Temperature | Keep it cosy between 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts, sudden temperature drops, and heaters. |
| Water | Water well if kept in pots but sparingly in terrariums, potting mix should be allowed to almost dry between waterings. Keep on the dry side in winter. |
| Fertiliser | Weak dose regularly in warmer months. Only fertilise if you would like the plant to grow. Less fertiliser will keep plants shorter and more compact. |
| Repotting | Only when plant is well advanced in pot or mid-spring. |

I was thrilled with my recent Yellow Fusion, the latest addition to my Calathea collection. Beautiful colours and shape. And decent size. This plant put an earlier purchase, from a different grower, completely in the shade. Much superior size, shape, colour and healthy plant. Well done Plant Boys!
