Geogenanthus Seersucker Plant (Geogenanthus ciliatus) is one of those quietly dramatic plants that doesn’t need to shout to steal the scene. Its glossy, quilted leaves have that signature seersucker texture, with deep green tones on top and rich burgundy-purple beneath, giving it a moody, almost lacquered look that feels equal parts tropical and tailored. Native to the wet tropical forests of Ecuador to northern Peru, it naturally grows as an understory plant, which explains its love of warmth, humidity and softer light.

This is a beautiful pick for collectors who love foliage with a bit of attitude. Compact, unusual and full of texture, the Seersucker Plant brings a luxe finish to shelves, side tables and smaller styled spaces, and it has that irresistible “what is that?” quality that makes a plant collection feel extra special. Its care is fairly straightforward once you keep the soil lightly moist and avoid harsh direct sun.

Position Bright, indirect light to medium filtered light; avoid direct sun, which can mark or fade the foliage.
Temperature Prefers warm indoor conditions, ideally around 18–25°C; protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 10°C.
Water Keep the potting mix lightly moist but never soggy; do not let it dry out completely. Water when the top layer is just starting to dry.
Fertiliser Feed with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser during the active growing season in spring and summer.
Repotting Only when plant is well advanced in pot or mid-spring.
